Board Selects Local Banking Executive and Community Leader
St. Louis, MO – March 1, 2017 – Epworth Children & Family Services’ Governance Board is pleased to announce that Michelle D. Tucker, Senior Vice President at Bank of America, has been selected to lead the $13 million nonprofit. After an extensive nation-wide search, the Board unanimously selected Tucker as the next CEO of the organization that has been serving children, youth and families for more than 150 years. Tucker will begin her new role on April 3.
“We are thrilled to have someone with Michelle’s outstanding leadership abilities and knowledge of the St. Louis community to lead us,” said Chris Jones, BancorpSouth, Governing Board Chair and the Chair of the Search Committee.
“Michelle is a highly skilled business leader with an intimate knowledge of Epworth’s services, and as a longtime member of the St. Louis region, she is passionately committed to its children, youth and families and to ensuring that Epworth is a thought leader in the community,” added Bryan LeMoine of McMahon, Berger P.C. and Epworth’s Past Board Chair.
Tucker said, “Epworth is a tremendous leader in children and family services and I’m excited to begin the next chapter of my career there to focus more directly on service and making a difference. I look forward to combining best practices from the for-profit industry with proven approaches from the nonprofit sector to inform ‘next practices’ as the agency continues to grow. I have been a supporter of Epworth for many years, both personally and professionally, and cannot wait to begin this new journey.”
Tucker joins Epworth from Bank of America where she is Senior Vice President, Enterprise Business & Community Engagement Market Manager overseeing local philanthropic giving, community outreach, and sponsorship strategies. Tucker has been with Bank of America for 20 years serving in leadership roles significantly impacting the bank’s local and nation-wide efforts. Tucker earned a B.A. in English from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and an M.A. in Business from Webster University in St. Louis. She is a certified Six Sigma Greenbelt professional. Tucker has received numerous awards including the Bank of America Spirit Medallion (four times) and their Platinum Award (two times). In addition she received the Business Journal’s Most Influential Diverse Business Leader Award, YWCA Leader of Distinction Award, the Urban League’s Women in Leadership Award, the Professional Organization of Women’s Leader of Distinction Award, St. Louis American’s Excellence in Business Award, Webster’s School of Business Alumnus of the Year Award, among many others.
Tucker is a member of the Board of Downtown STL, Inc., the Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis, and Boys and Girls Club of Greater St. Louis. She served as the Vice Chair of the United Way’s Community Impact Committee and is an active member and Co-chair of the organization’s African American de Tocqueville Giving Cabinet. She is a graduate of FOCUS’ Leadership St. Louis and the St. Louis Business Diversity Initiative Fellows Program. She is a member of The Archway Chapter of the Links, Inc and a member of the St. Louis Forum.
Tucker has been married for nearly 18 years to Kennard Tucker, Edward Jones.
