Children Are Made Stronger By Those Who Support Them
As valuable members of our treatment team, volunteers make amazing discoveries everyday about our kids and about themselves. Through these discoveries, volunteers have the wonderful opportunity to help kids find their strengths. What are your strengths? Mentors
Mentors spend quality time one on one with a youth. Mentors provide positive role modeling, emotional support, and enrichment activities for the youth in residential treatment. Mentors must be willing to commit for at least one year and be 21 or older.
Dorm Resource
The volunteer spends time weekly in the dorm and is a friend/role model to all 6 or 8 residents of the dorm. The volunteer helps with homework, plays games, and is generally available for whatever needs there are at the time. Must be 21 years or older.
Helpline Volunteer
The volunteer answers the 24-hour Helpline and assists callers in obtaining therapeutic resources and services. Opportunities available seven days a week, 24 hours a day.
Special Projects Resource
Volunteers provide support to individuals or groups in a variety of ways including teaching special classes, assisting with fund raising events or landscaping.
Adopt a Dorm
Volunteers either as individuals or groups support a dorm on a monthly basis by giving behind the scenes support such as providing cards, treats, or gifts. Volunteers may also make monthly visits to the dorm to play games, make crafts or teach a fun activity.
Aging Out Tutor
The volunteer will work with a youth in the community to complete homework assignments, study for the ACT and learn study skills and organization. The hours available for this position are M-F from 3pm-7pm.
Educational Mentor/Resource
The volunteer spends time with an Aging Out youth while visiting colleges or job training resources, filling out FAFSA applications, navigating through application processes and possibly volunteering at another agency. Mentors must be at least 21 years old.
G2G and Events Resource
Aging Out holds monthly meetings for the youth. The meetings are informative and interactive and they focus on current challenges as well as accessing community resources for older youth in foster care. This position covers set up, food pick-up, youth transportation and chaperoning. Other events, such as community service day and summer camps, will also need logistical and chaperone assistance.
Office Volunteer for Aging Out / YES
The volunteer will help with filing, recording information in the database and updating records, sending faxes to schools and calculating grades. This is a good position for anyone that does not want to work directly with the youth, but wants to be involved with the program.
Tutors
Work one on one or in a small classroom with special education students. Tutors are needed Monday through Friday during school hours at both the Webster Groves School and the City School location.
