TYLER
found strength to...
Realize my dream
At 16 I was living with my dad in a house that had no water or electricity. All the money he got from working in construction went to pay for drugs. Because it was tough at home, I loved going to school. At school I learned to work with
animals. It had always been my dream to work in a veterinarian’s office, but without a stable place to live I thought I was going to have to drop out. My teacher helped me get into Epworth’s ILP (Independent Living Program) where I received lots of support to live in my own apartment, learn to take care of myself, and finish the last two years of high school. Four years after leaving Epworth, I am working in a vet’s office.
