St. Louis youth programs receive $573,000 in tax credits

Four St. Louis organizations were approved for a total of more than $573,000 in Youth Opportunities Program (YOP) tax credits to administer youth development or crime prevention projects.
Family Support Services, of O'Fallon, Mo., was approved for $32,590 in YOP tax credits that will provide Social Opportunities and Respite programs for disadvantaged youth with developmental disabilities.
Edgewood Children's Center in St. Louis was approved for $225,000 in YOP tax credits that will be directed to counseling services for at-risk children; to develop coping mechanisms and violence prevention skills; to keep children in school and earning course credits; and to direct and support home environment transitions.
Epworth Children and Family Services in St. Louis was approved for $239,727 in YOP tax credits that will focus on counseling services for at-risk youth receiving emergency shelter services, residential treatment and special education school services.
Family Support Network in St. Louis was approved for $76,320 in YOP tax credits for its School Links program, which provides weekly youth counseling, crisis intervention, parenting education, resource referrals and follow-up services.
The Youth Opportunities Program, administered by the Missouri Department of Economic Development, provides tax credits to organizations administering positive youth development or crime prevention projects.
