The Celebration Also Commemorated Epworth’s 150th Anniversary of Serving the St. Louis Community

ST. LOUIS, MO (February 20, 2014)— More than $600,000 was raised on Saturday night at the annual “Pillar of Strength” award dinner to benefit the foster care programs at Epworth Children & Family Services. Noémi and Michael Neidorff, in conjunction with Centene Corporation, were presented with the organization’s 2014 Pillar of Strength Award for their dedication to ensuring access to health care services for children within the foster care system. The black-tie gala, which was attended by more than 350 businesses, civic and philanthropic leaders from throughout the St. Louis area, also celebrated the 150th anniversary of the organization’s founding, which occurred in 1864.

“Epworth’s work to assist more than 5,300 at-risk youth and their families within the St. Louis community each year is remarkable,” said Michael Neidorff, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Centene Corporation. “At Centene, we share that same passion to strengthen the communities in which we do business through our outreach efforts. Both Noémi and I are truly humbled to receive this great honor. We were thrilled to be a part of this event, which will allow children within the foster care system to continue to receive the specialized health care services they need.”
Jasmine Huda, anchor for KMOV-TV, served as the evening’s emcee. The celebratory evening, held in the ballroom of The Ritz-Carlton, St. Louis, ended with a rousing performance by renowned St. Louis jazz singer, Denise Thimes.
